My name is Maggie Mozley. I am a sophomore at Reinhardt University, and I major in Early Childhood Education. I was born in Marietta, GA. When I was six, my family moved to Ghana, West Africa where we were missionaries for eleven years. The schools I attended in Ghana were different in their approach to physical education, but we always got to do something exciting. My P.E. experience is probably different from most others', but I am glad that the instruction I was given had a positive impact on me.
I have grown up working with children. I genuinely enjoy spending time with kids. As a child, Physical Education was always one of my favorite classes. I liked it because it was different from the classroom setting. I also enjoyed the structured aspect of free time that P.E. provides. I enjoyed the different units we would cover, and I always felt like I had accomplished something big when I improved in the course. I hope that when I become a teacher, I will make the course fun and enjoyable for my students. I am very excited about this course, and I feel privileged to take it. I hope that my students feel the same excitement and anticipation that I always felt during P.E. class. I believe that P.E. is a good environment for children to interact with one another, because it promotes sportsmanship and a certain level of community within the class. I also think that it promotes gender equality, because males and females alike are asked to perform on the same level, with the same course material. I believe that being physically active is crucial to a person's health and well-being.
I come from a family of teachers. My mother currently teaches on a high school level, and my sister just began her first year as a high school English teacher. They have both taught me that learning should always be fun, no matter how old a student may be. Children are creative thinkers, and their minds function a lot differently from the minds of adults, so some may find it difficult to relate to children. I think that teachers are truly gifted, and that being able to relate to their students and make learning fun and interactive is a true accomplishment. I hope that I am on the right track to becoming a successful and well-liked teacher. I hope that I will be able to make learning fun, and I hope that I will always convey a positive attitude and approach to learning for my students.
I look forward to learning and understanding the material we will cover in this course. I hope that this class will prepare me for all of the opportunities and challenges I may face in the future with teaching. I hope that I will always seek to bring out my full potential in all that I do, especially in my professional career.
